St. Elizabeth Knights support Habitat for Humanity – October 2014


On Saturday, October 4, 2014, the St. Elizabeth Knights, Council 12796, banded together to help the final cleanup at the Habitat for Humanity Maple Hill project before homeowner walk-throughs began that Monday.

In addition to donating $500 to Habitat to Humanity, 7 Knights and 1 Lady volunteered nearly 8 hours each to tasks ranging from hauling 6×6 beams, spreading seed/straw, patching/painting, sign installation and other groundskeeping work. We initially thought it would be an easy day indoors doing touchup work, but it turned out to be near back-breaking labor including hauling stones around the property and taking up landscaping fabric (which was very well embedded in the ground!).

The Knights brought food for everyone to share, not just our own volunteers, and we know we left the site that day much closer to being move-in ready for the 19 new homeowners!
