District Deputy Letter for October

Worthy Brothers All,

This month the Church observes Respect Life Sunday on October 3rd. The Respect Life Program begins each year on the first Sunday in October. I encourage everyone to go to the USCCB site designated to this purpose at www.usccb.org/prolife/programs/rlp/index.shtml.

The theme for this year is “The Measure of Love is to Love Without Measure.” We pray that the life of every human person from conception to natural death be enshrined and protected by our nation’s laws. Pray the rosary as often as you can for this purpose.
Attend an additional Mass if you can. Remember that the program continues though next September.

October is also one of the most visible months for the Knights of Columbus. Knights nationwide are standing in their yellow vests holding cans asking everyone to give what they can for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities. Last year alone the councils of Montgomery County collected over $50,000 that serves our local communities. In addition to contributions others make, consider a personal contribution of your own. Give anonymously by placing your donation in the can when you begin your shift. Only you and our Father in heaven will know what good you have done.

I hope that council members have been enjoying The Beacon, written and edited for over 27,000 knights in the State of Maryland by our Former District Deputy Roberto Ibanez. If you have not received a copy via e-mail, contact your grand knight and have him add you to your council’s distribution list. The articles are well written and informative.

(editor’s note: We do publish the Beacon on this site, so keep an eye out for it each month)
