District Deputy Letter for November 2011

Worthy Brothers All,

Having returned from the fall Meeting in Hagerstown, I have much to share with you.

First of all, congratulations for your recruitment efforts! Our district has had a strong start with degrees held district wide. I believe all councils have recruited at least one candidate or will have by the time this letter reaches publication. Kudos to Mike Townsend at Saint Elizabeth Council 12796. His council is only one man away from Star Council!

As I mentioned to the Grand Knights at our district meeting this summer, we have moved from the Blitz process to Membership 365.  We still recruit. We still hold drives. We still distribute our council trifolds. So what’s different? Not much really. We continue to go about our customary good practices of asking men to join our ranks.

Remember our departed brothers and their spouses and children this November. If you can, try to attend the State Memorial Mass at the Shrine of Saint Anthony in Ellicott City on November 13. Ronda and I would enjoy your company. If you hold a council Memorial Mass, please be sure to send me an invitation.

It is not too early to start thinking about the State Convention next May. You may begin making hotel reservations November 1. Contact you grand knight for details. This convention will be full of activity since it is an election year for a new State Warden. With five declared candidates, it will be a festive and exciting.

I look forward to visiting all four councils this month and speaking with you.
