District Deputy Letter for January 2011

In Jesus and Mary, I wish everyone a grace filled new year.

Within the celebration of Christmas, we are reminded in the dead of winter that Christ is the light of the world. In a few weeks we will celebrate this gift during our annual March for Life on January 24 in Washington DC. Check with your council’s Pro-life Chairman for details about how you can participate.

This year we can also look forward to the new translation of the prayers for Mass. As the center of our life in Christ, the Mass brings all of us together in prayer. The English speaking world awaits the new translation of the Roman Missal, and we as Knights can serve a role by offering our priests assistance as they prepare our faithful for a richer celebration of the Eucharist.

During this dormant time of year we can also prepare our hearts for a deeper devotion in prayer. Please try to visit the Blessed Sacrament as often as you can this month. There is much to pray for in our world, but mostly your praise and adoration bring heaven to earth, and isn’t that a wonderful thing?
