District 18: District Deputy Report for October 2014

I bring you greetings from Our State Deputy, Stephen J. Adamczyk, whose theme is “Be Not Afraid, Our Faith is Our Courage”.

By the time you read this, September will have passed by quickly. With the Car Raffle going on to raise funds for Education and the Campaign for People with Intellectual Disabilities starting to help raise funds for intellectually challenged.  Some Councils held special fundraisers to help raise funds to help the athletes who attend the World Special Olympics to be held this coming summer 2015 on the west coast. Also, we had two 1st Degrees and a 2nd degree during the month of September. Soccer Shoot outs going on The McNamara Chapter of Grand Knights held their meeting at Calvert Council #7870 which hosted a Crab Feast after the meeting! No one left hungry!

Now that we’re into October, there are many exciting events going on.  State has asked us to join the Knights in the Baltimore Columbus Day Parade on October 5th, in Baltimore.  We will have the Columbus Day Ball the following weekend when we find out who won the car! There will be two 1st Degrees, one at Msgr Wells Council No. 13008 on October 8th at 7pm, Candidates please report by 6:30pm. There will be a 1st Degree at St. Manyanet Council No. 5567 October 9th at 8pm, Candidates report no later than 7:30pm. Then there will be a 2nd Degree at Rock Creek Council No. 2797 October 23rd at 8pm, Candidates report no later than 7:30pm. In addition, The McNamara Chapter of Grand Knights will hold their meeting October 15th with Rock Creek Council being the Host for the Chapter meeting. I ask all Grand Knights, Deputy Grand Knights, and yes even those PGKs too to attend from District No. 18.  Let us show a solid attendance from our District for the Chapter President, beside there is lots of useful information to learn and apply in your councils.

With November coming around the corner with Veterans Day, let us remember those that serve and have served by partaking in or hosting memorial masses or hold a fund raiser in honor of those that have served to keep us free. Let Thanksgiving be a time to bring our families closer to celebrate and give thanks to God and Country. Thank you.

Vivat Jesus,
Kevin Kittka, District Deputy
District No. 18
