Council Hosts Maryland State Pro-Life Mass and Program

On October 28, 2014, the Council was proud to host a Pro-Life Mass with the strong support of the State team and local Assemblies. Led by Culture of Life Program Director Roger Lie and DGK Vinny Lagrotteria, the Council coordinated the event with the State Culture of Life team’s Director Jerry Hicks, Chairman and featured speaker, Dr. Lawrence Grayson and Mass Coordinator Ed Waskiewicz.

We were supported by the St. Elizabeth community including Chaplain Monsignor Macfarlane, Associate Chaplain, celebrant Father Jacob George and the parish staff. We also benefitted from the participation of the Sullivan Brothers Assembly color corps and the J. Kemp Cook Fourth Degree Choir.

We invited the St. Elizabeth community in the weekly parish bulletin:

Pro-Life Mass on October 28
The St. Elizabeth Council of the Knights of Columbus is sponsoring a Pro-Life Mass this Tuesday, October 28th at 7:00 pm to be celebrated by Father Jacob George at St. Elizabeth Church. Following the Mass, there will be a short talk on the culture of life by Dr. Lawrence P. Grayson followed by refreshments in the Commons. The Knights’ Choir also will accompany the Mass. This event is open to all, so please come join us. Dr. Grayson, a visiting scholar at The Catholic University of America, writes a monthly column for the Knights in Maryland on social issues from a Catholic perspective.  He and his wife serve as the Knights’ Maryland State Pro-Life Couple.  If you have any questions about the Knights of Columbus, please contact Dave Crum.

The evening was led off by a Mass celebrated by Father George – supported by the color corps and choir – and Father George’s strong homily. After Mass, Dr. Grayson spoke eloquently about the loss of religious freedom in America and the importance of a Culture of Life in that context. The talk was followed by a reception in the Church commons.

We also submitted this follow-up item to the parish bulletin:

 Thank you for Pro-Life Mass

The St. Elizabeth Council of the Knights of Columbus gives special thanks to all who made the October 28 Pro-Life Mass possible. We want to especially recognize the support from Father Jacob George, the Knights’ speaker Dr. Lawrence P. Grayson, the Sullivan Brothers Assembly Color Corps, the J. Kemp Cook Fourth Degree Choir and the entire St. Elizabeth Community.  If you have any questions about the Knights of Columbus, please contact Dave Crum.
