Baying Hound Brewery Social was a success!

Brothers, Ladies and Neighbors, Baying Hound and new friends,

I want to thank all who came for the successful social evening at Baying Hound Aleworks in Rockville tonight. We had 16 in attendance plus a few others who joined in on the festivities, which was perfect for the size of this “nano-brewery”. Before the owner Paul spoke, we got to be the first to try 3 newly tapped beers (the Multi Grain was a hit) as well as a few bottles. I think this was the first experience for many at any type of brewery, even a small one, and the accessibility to the owner (Paul) and bartender (Jared) helped make it a more personal and direct experience.
Paul gave us his own family history of brewers and high school shenanigans, and then educated us about the surprisingly unscientific brewing process (really, it just takes a spoon?) before admitting there’s some science and math involved. I think I can speak for everyone that we’d like to do this again, especially in the spring when it’s sunny and warm 🙂 However, I think we’ll be having some more events like this before the spring, so keep and eye out for something coming up. I think perhaps the few of us with unused brewing kits may start using them, eh?
I also want to give a special shoutout to Charlotte from Glass Doctor (auto, home and business glass repair) who is a business neighbor to the Aleworks and, as I found out, my own neighbor about 2 blocks away! Her dog Chessy (named after the Chesapeake) was adored by all and is a rescue from the Humane Society near the Aleworks. She wants to be sure that we Rockville (or generally local) residents make sure we buy local as often as we can to support our local business owners and, most likely, our neighbors.
